STRENGTH | CORE Development / Bodywork

At SpeedSHOT we believe the foundation for speed is found in the ability of the athlete to stabilize their posture and maintain proper technique while under duress. Without this simple but very important base, athletes will eventually condition and exacerbate the asymmetries or imbalances in their body eventually leading to injury or a plateau in fitness gains.

Of all three sports, swimming, due to it's technical nature, has a tremendous need to for the athlete to maintain good range of motion, balanced strength, and flexibilty to properly execute good mechanics in the pool under the pressure of being in a medium of tremdous drag that reflects every wasted moment.

For cyclists, a loss of power and increased drag are the immediate effects of physical imbalances and inflexibilty. Secondary and subtle issues can come with back or neck pain, and IT Band pain.

For runners imbalances and inflexibilty can lend to shin splints, IT Band issues, muscle strains, and dramatic limitations in speed despite mile and miles or running.

For all athletes, improving muscle balance has tremendous benefits including increased power output, increased economy, increased range of motion, injury prevention, and will actually lend to the athlete leaning up over time.

Bodywork sessions are held one on one and include during the first session a functional movement and injury assessment. Sessions are geared to be progressive and challenging and include a program to follow between sessions.

Sessions are an excellent complement to any technique / skill focused work that the athlete may also be enrolling for (running technique and swimming lessons) or as a complement to clients getting a bike fit.
